Thank you Diane Marx!

Late last week, Diane Marx let me know that she is planning on retiring from her position at Lord of Life, effective May 23, 2011.

Diane has worked with children in our congregation for almost 22 years.  I believe that her presence and her longevity has been one of the key factors in the success and effectiveness of our ministry.  Lord of Life has a long tradition and reputation for excellence in ministry with children, and that is largely due to Diane’s work and ministry.  The long-term relationships she has developed have been powerful ways for God’s Holy Spirit to work in the lives of our people, and we are all very grateful for what she has given.

In her letter announcing her retirement, Diane writes that “One doesn’t remain in the same position for almost twenty-two years unless the job is fulfilling and the work conditions positive.  I have witnessed first-hand the tremendous growth of this vibrant faith community.  My positive experience at Lord of Life has been beyond my expectations.”

As a colleague, I am grateful for Diane’s ministry.  As a friend, I am grateful for her spirit, her caring nature and her willingness to do whatever necessary to care for others.

We will be hosting a celebration of Diane’s ministry on Saturday, May 7th, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.  It will be an open house, held in one of the upstairs rooms at Rush Creek Golf Course.  Appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.  A cash-bar will be available.  Please come and celebrate Diane’s years of ministry, and thank her for the difference she has made in the lives of thousands of young people.

Please keep Diane and Rob, and our ministry with children in your prayers as we enter this time of transition.  If you, or any members of our congregation have questions about our process from here as the word of Diane’s retirement begins to spread, please direct them to me.
